The Municipality of Costarainera, in the province of Imperia, extends from the blue of the Ligurian sea to the green of the hinterland. This is where the cycle path of Liguria passes, one of the longest in Europe. Mount Saccarello protects it from the icy winds of Tramontana, allowing it to enjoy a mild climate throughout the year. This little gem on the Ligurian Sea is divided between an older and more historical part and a more modern and tourism soul, while maintaining its timeless charm intact. The wonderful views that can be seen from various points of the town make every walk to discover the village really pleasant.
Make a stop at the church of San Giovanni Battista, inside which there are paintings depicting San Sebastiano and Santa Lucia, and at the Sanctuary of Sant'Antonio Abate, a small Catholic place of worship recently renovated from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire San Lorenzo valley. In the period of June, which is the day of the patron saint, the village comes alive with festivals and celebrations, ending with a torchlight procession on June 23 and 24, followed by a procession and a large party in the square.
Numerous itineraries start from Costarainera, both for bike lovers and for those who prefer to walk and discover the most authentic Liguria.
