Imperia is a provincial capital on a human scale, which makes this city really pleasant to discover on foot. The city was born from the union of eleven distinct municipalities, in 1923, among which Oneglia and Porto Maurizio stand out, which still maintain two different identities, separated by the Torrente Impero.
Oneglia is the eastern fraction, the heart of the city, where political, economic and industrial assets are concentrated. And that's not all! Entering the typical Ligurian alleys, with colorful houses, you will arrive at the sea, where you can benefit from a walk along the seafront, through the Spianata Borgo Peri. In a twenty minute walk you can reach the lighthouse in front of Porto Maurizio, the ancient fishing village, which is also the most tourist area of the city, with its various monuments and restaurants, and from which you can observe suggestive sunsets. Right above, stands the promontory of Parasio, the medieval historic center of Porto Maurizio from which, among ancient palaces, churches and alleys, you can admire a wonderful view over the entire Ineja (Imperia).
